Celebrate with Percy on his path to 80!

We are celebrating the 80th Anniversary of Percy the Parachuting Penguin with a virtual fundraising challenge.

Put the Leap into Leap Year and take part in Operation Percy in support of the RAF Museum so stories like Percy’s can continue to be shared for the next 80 years and beyond! Percy the penguin was the lucky mascot of Flight Lieutenant Stan Chapman of 158 Squadron. 29 January 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of Percy (and Stan) parachuting out of a Halifax Bomber after it was badly damaged. Thanks to the work and care of the RAF Museum, Percy is still on display today to help tell his tale and celebrate his 80th anniversary.

Your fundraising and support will help the Museum keep these stories alive and enable them to be shared for many years to come. Follow Percy the parachuting penguin on his path to 80. Complete 80KM or 80 laps of your preferred exercise course before 29 February and join Percy on his Path to 80.

Once you sign up to take part, you will automatically be registered with a fundraising page. This will enable you to track your distances, share your adventures with friends on Facebook and fundraise for us. We will also send you a RAF Museum running t-shirt so you can complete the fundraising challenge in style.
